WOMEN'S RETREAT

Each year, we hold a Women’s Retreat in late January and a Men’s Retreat in early February. Locations vary for our Women’s Retreat, and the Men’s Retreat is usually at Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacifica.  The retreats are open to all, and scholarships are available. Details and registration information will be posted on this page starting in October of each year. Please feel free to contact a member of our ministry team if you have any questions about our retreats or our programs.
For Women’s Retreat Information, please contact Rev. Dr. Eileen Altman.
For Men’s Retreat Information, please contact Rev. David Howell.

WOMEN'S RETREAT 2022 - Canceled

Hope in Disarray
Join us from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29 at the beach at Villa Maria del Mar in Santa Cruz to explore together how we piece our lives, our community, our nation, and our world back together in hope, when everything seems to be falling apart. As we journey through undesirable difficulties, we are called to cry out to God, acknowledging our darkness and despair, but seeking the hope that God’s presence offers. Hope is the grace of our Christian life.

It is how we all, in some way or another, continue to move forward when we feel we cannot.

In the midst of a world pandemic, where death and illness are ever-present, we can hope. Hope is not blind optimism. Hope is not pleading for your desires. Hope is not asking for magical change. Hope is the force that invites us to act with God to move toward a more just and life-giving world.

In this gathering we will explore the book Hope in Disarray: Piecing Our Lives Together in Faith by Grace Ji-Sun Kim. You’re invited to purchase and read the book ahead of time. Professor Kim will join us via Zoom to talk about her book. There will also be opportunities for worship, small group workshops led by members of our church, playful fun with old and new friends, and solitude and rest.

The cost for the day is $125, which includes continental breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you wish to stay overnight, the cost of a room at the retreat center is an additional $270 per night for a single room, or $170 per person per night for a double room. Contact Eileen Altman separately to arrange an overnight stay.
Register by January 14, 2022.
