Speaker: Rev. Eileen Altman
Date: December 5, 2021

Associate Pastor Rev. Dr. Eileen Altman preached about Zechariah’s questioning of the angel Gabriel and subsequent nine months of contemplative silence during Elizabeth’s pregnancy with John the Baptist, followed by his beautiful Benedictus prophecy when the baby was born and he confirmed Elizabeth’s decision to name the child John. “We’re called to show others the way and nurture the next generation,” Pastor Eileen said. “Not just to be successful or comfortable, but to be a prophetic voice to lead then to the way of peace.”

Gratitude comes when we try to lift each other up”

Speaker: Rev. Dr. Eileen Altman

Pastor Eileen speaks about how God brings new hope and new life after unimaginable loss, how “we live in the meantime,” and about giving birth to a new way of life when it comes to addressing Climate Change.

She encouraged attendees to look with hope to the children, climate activists, technological advances, and adaptation lessons from neighboring countries.

Whatever you have to offer, however small, however meager, matters. We give until it matters to us, and to the world. Whoever you overlook, whoever you undervalue, whoever you look down on, God sees and celebrates their value and what they have to offer.

Religion Doesn't Matter

Speaker: Rev. David Howell

Pastor Dave preached on Ezekiel 37, “the story of “The Valley of Dry Bones”. The gospel’s message is to look death in the eye and say “you have no power over me”. New life is always possible. The darkest most hopeless place is a place where God still has power and possibility and hope.

Speaker: Rev. Emily Linderman
Date: October 17, 2021

Rev. Emily Linderman inspired attendees at our last outdoor service with an authentic talk about how we’re invited into a relationship and intimacy of mutuality with God — to serve and be served, to host and be guest.

If you knew this kind of love was for you, what would you be so bold as to request?

Please Don't Talk About Money

Speaker: Rev. David Howell
Date: October 10, 2021

Pastor Dave’s sermon challenged congregants to consider the benefits of what money can do, the challenges of what money keeps us from doing, and the drawbacks of what money does to us.

“Money makes it hard to be a good person, to be close to God. You can’t serve two masters — God and money. Money makes us think we’re better than others or makes those who have less feel less than. Turn money into a sacrament; every time you think about money, try also to think about God.”

Speaker: Rev. David Howell
Date:
October 3, 2021

Pastor Dave encouraged congregants to receive God like a child: be an imaginative creator, open to learning new things, ready to make friends, and willing to forgive.

Despite how frustrating and destructive we are, God sees our potential and loves us — no matter what!

Speaker: Rev. David Howell
Date: September 26, 2021

"Salt is ordinary, it is everywhere, and it is relatively cheap," Pastor Dave said. "We need to be the people God called us to be: beautiful, essential, and a little bit ordinary and make room for everyone ... anyone who is not against us is for us."
