Qualified Charitable Distribution

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a special way for individuals age 70½ or older to make a gift directly from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a qualified charity. QCDs allow you to support your favorite charities while potentially reducing your taxable income and satisfying all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Because the gift is made directly from your IRA to the church, the distribution is not included in your taxable income. QCDs are a simple and tax-wise way to support First Congregational Church of Palo Alto (FCCPA).

How to Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution 

 1.Contact your IRA custodian
   Request a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA and specify the amount of the gift.
         
2. Provide our church’s information:
    Give the following details to your IRA provider:
    Legal Name: First Congregational Church of Palo Alto
    Mailing Address: 1985 Louis Road, Palo Alto, CA 94303
    Tax ID (EIN): 94-1243683

3.Have the check issued to the church
   Your IRA custodian should make the check payable to: 

    First Congregational Church of Palo Alto

    The check may be mailed directly to the church or sent to you to forward.

4.Notify us of your gift (optional but helpful)
   Because IRA checks sometimes arrive without donor information, please let us know the amount and intended designation of your           gift so we can properly apply it to your giving record. Your gift will be included in your year-end contribution statement, which serves       as your official acknowledgment for tax purposes.
